TL;DR - when buying Nurofen , get the cheapest one because they're all the same thing just in a different box with a different/higher price tag .

Most times you'll find the unbranded medicines are made of mostly the same stuff and way cheaper.

But then you have to remember the placebo¬†effect. I f you give someone a pain reliever and tell them its designed specifically for the type of pain their going through it will be more effective. Now this doesn't justify the increased price but it is interesting that …
The supposedly more expensive placebo was twice as effective, with improvements seen in both tests of physical abilities and in brain scans.

I wonder if you could sell skittles in dimple packs as a pain reliever for a few euro, would it work?

Many scientific tests on the placebo effect have been carried out and they totally work up to some extent, if you have a gunshot wound taking skittles will probably not help with the pain, but if you have a mild headache they most likely will.

This works the other way as well, if you think it's not going to work but take the real thing anyway it won't be as effective :D
